Saving an SWF using SWiSHmax

Once you have created an animation you want to use on a Web page, you need to export an SWF file from SWiSHmax. SWF is the format supported by Web browsers that can be placed into any HTML page.

Here’s how to save an SWF:

  1. With your movie open, select File > Export > HTML + SWF. This exports both the SWF and the appropriate HTML code to embed the file in a Web page. Choose to export the HTML code if you need the code in order to embed the SWF in a Web page.  Other times you may already have the code, and only need to generate the SWF. If you only need the SWF, select File > Export > SWF.
  2. SWiSHmax opens the Publish SWiSHmax Movie window. Choose the location on your computer where you want to save your file, then click the Save button.
  3. SWiSHmax asks if you want to edit the HTML file that was exported. Select No.
  4. Your movie is now ready for Web use. You can open the HTML file with any text editor or HTML editor you are using, or use an HTML editor to place the SWF in a Web page. Remember to upload the SWF file to the Web server just as you would upload an image to a Web page.

Always be sure to test your SWF files once you upload them. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
